A vestibular assessment is a set of tests that check how well your balance system is working. The balance system is found in the inner ear and helps you stay steady and know where you are in space. During the assessment, a healthcare provider may ask questions about your dizziness or balance, watch how your eyes move, and sometimes use special equipment to measure your inner ear and balance function. The goal is to find out if the inner ear is causing balance or dizziness problems and to guide treatment.

The healthcare provider may ask about pain or injuries, look at how you stand and walk, test your strength and flexibility, and gently move your joints to see how they work. The goal is to find out what might be causing pain, stiffness, or movement problems so the right treatment or exercises can be planned.

Our physiotherapists will conduct a thorough examination and assessment of your balance systems allowing for the identification of concerns that may be affecting your balance abilities. The outcomes from this assessment, along with the discussion on the goals each client is hoping to achieve, will be the basis for an individualized balance retraining program.

Jodi completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Mount Allison University in 2000. She then graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2007. Jodi is a veteran massage therapist with years of experience working in multidisciplinary clinics. She can help you with acute and chronic injuries and postural dysfunction. She has experience in treating headaches, whiplash, neurological disorders, plantar fasciitis along with many other soft tissue conditions. Jodi uses traditional massage therapy techniques to decrease pain and discomfort, increase muscle and joint function all while promoting overall health and wellness. She has taken several educational courses and incorporates valuable skills and techniques into her treatment plans. Jodi is a member of the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia.
